Ceylon Tobacco Company - Towhid Akbar

Mr. Towhid Akbar was appointed as the Finance Director of Ceylon Tobacco Company (CTC) PLC on April 1, 2023.

He joined British American Tobacco (BAT) Bangladesh in 2007 as a Territory Officer in the Trade Marketing team.

Following a cross–functional move to the Finance department, Towhid gained a significant amount of expertise by working in diverse markets and assuming various roles across the BAT operations. In addition to his work in Bangladesh, his assignments spanning across Taiwan, Vietnam, Global Business Services hub in Malaysia and the Group Internal Audit teams, have helped him grow to be an agile and well-informed expert in his field.

With his diverse experience, Towhid has a proven track record of driving sustainable value growth across the business. His contribution towards the delivery of numerous strategic commercial initiatives and the strengthening of the Group talent pipeline were well commended.

Towhid is a Fellow Member of Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA) and holds two master’s degrees, one from University of London, United Kingdom and the other from Institute of Business Administration, Bangladesh.
